HC Deb 23 June 1938 vol 337 c1263
62. Mr. Perkins

asked the Minister of Health whether it is his policy to encourage rural district councils to make use of the services of dowsers in outlying areas?

Mr. Elliot

The technical methods to be adopted in the preparation of schemes of water supply are primarily the responsibility of the local authorities.

Mr. Perkins

Do I understand from my right hon. Friend's reply that he himself does not believe in the universal practice of dowsing?

Mr. Elliot

I said that the proper persons to decide on the methods to be employed are the people who are getting the water. That is, the local authorities.

Sir T. Moore

What is a dowser?
