HC Deb 31 May 1937 vol 324 c653
9. Sir William Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the present position of the Chinese Boxer Indemnity Fund; how it is being administered; and with what results?

Mr. Eden

The present position of the China Indemnity Fund is that it is being administered in accordance with the terms of the exchange of notes with Chinese Government of September, 1920, and of the China Indemnity (Application) Act, 1931. I may refer my hon. Friend in this connection to the White Paper presented to Parliament, China No. 3 (1930) Command Paper 3715, which contains the text of the notes, together with an explanatory memorandum. The results of the administration of the fund under the agreement reached in 1930 have been highly satisfactory. My hon. Friend will find fuller details in the periodical reports of the Board of Trustees, the Purchasing Commission and the Universities China Committee.
