HC Deb 17 February 1937 vol 320 cc1151-2
1. Mr. Mander

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will inform the German Government that the restoration of the German colonies is not a discussible subject?

The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Viscount Cranborne)

I have nothing to add to previous statements on this subject made on behalf of His Majesty's Government.

Mr. Mander

Am I to understand that we no longer adhere to the statement made by the Foreign Secretary on 2nd May, 1935, that this subject was not a discussible one?

Viscount Cranborne

The hon. Member had better read the statements that have been made.

Mr. Mander

May we take it that there has been a change?

Colonel Wedgwood

Has the Noble Lord any guarantee that this subject will not be discussed with Germany without the concurrence and presence of the allied and associated Powers?

Viscount Cranborne

I think that hardly arises from the question. I cannot add anything to what I have said.
