HC Deb 21 April 1937 vol 322 cc1747-8
49. Mr. G. Hardie

asked the Minister of Transport the cost of production of an electrical unit at the generator before distribution begins at Battersea Power Station, London, Barking Power Station, London, Dalmarnock Power Station, Glasgow, and South Wales Power Station, Treforest, Wales?

The Minister of Transport (Mr. HoreBelisha)

Battersea 0.11d., Barking 0.12d., Dalmarnock 0.16d., Treforest (Upper Boat) 0.13d. These figures are exclusive of all overhead and capital charges and are not directly comparable, as the load factors and costs of coal are different in each case.

Mr. Hardie

Does the answer of the right hon. Gentleman include the capital cost of the plant up to the point at which the price of the unit is given?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I think that the answer that I gave makes that plain, as I have already said.
