HC Deb 27 May 1936 vol 312 cc1993-4
17. Mr. ALEXANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs which of the naval Powers has up to date formally ratified the London Treaty (1936) for the limitation of naval armaments; and on what date it is proposed the treaty should be ratified by the British Government?

Mr. EDEN

The London Naval Treaty (1936) has not yet been ratified by any of the signatories, though the treaty is reported to have received the approval of the United States Senate on 18th May. As regards the second part of the question, no date has yet been fixed for the ratification of the treaty by His Majesty's Government in respect of the United Kingdom.
