HC Deb 06 May 1936 vol 311 c1690
30. Vice-Admiral TAYLOR

asked the Minister of Transport whether he can now state when the result of the deliberations between his Department and the police authorities with regard to traffic generally in and around Hyde Park is likely to be sent to the First Commissioner of Works for his consideration?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

I do not know if my hon. and gallant Friend has any particular proposals in mind but no scheme, in view of the existing lay-out, has yet been devised which can be regarded as definitive.

Vice-Admiral TAYLOR

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that there was a scheme introduced some years ago for dealing with this traffic problem at Victoria Gate, and, in view of that fact, will he make inquiries of the First Commissioner of Works for that particular plan?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Certainly, Sir. It was not a question of a scheme, but of a satisfactory scheme. I should be most happy to consult with my hon. and gallant Friend.
