HC Deb 09 March 1936 vol 309 c1788
33. Mr. McENTEE

asked the Minister of Agriculture what is the cause of delay in compiling a scheme for the draining of the Lea Valley watershed between Roydon and Walthamstow; and whether he can state the nature of any such scheme now being prepared by the River Lea Catchment Board?

Mr. ELLIOT

I understand that the Lee Conservancy Catchment Board have under consideration proposals for carrying out works upon the river between a point slightly below Roydon and Stratford, the object of which is to improve the discharge capacity of the main river. The proposals are at present only in skeleton form and further information is, I understand, required before they will be sufficiently advanced to enable the board to come to a decision.

Mr. McENTEE

Can the right hon. Gentleman give any indication as to the time when the scheme will be available?

Mr. ELLIOT

I am afraid I cannot do that without notice.
