HC Deb 20 July 1936 vol 315 cc10-1
15. Mr. VYVYAN ADAMS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, before the Recess, the House of Commons will be apprised of the policy of His Majesty's Government to be pursued at Geneva in September respecting the proposed reform of the League of Nations and matters related thereto?

Mr. EDEN

I am not in a position to give any undertaking on this point.

Mr. ADAMS

Cannot the House know as early as possible quite clearly what it is going to be invited to support at Geneva?

Mr. EDEN

The hon. Gentleman will appreciate that this is a very difficult matter, and I do not want to make an announcement which will make the work at Geneva more difficult.

Sir PERCY HARRIS

Will there be some statement before the House adjourns, because this will take place before September?

Mr. EDEN

I appreciate the difficulty. I only said I could not give any undertaking.
