HC Deb 15 July 1936 vol 314 c2046
64. Sir MALCOLM BARCLAYHARVEY

asked the Minister of Transport whether the main Perth-Aberdeen road is included among those to be taken over by the Government?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

I will send my hon. Friend a copy of the answer which I gave last Thursday to a similar question by the hon. Member for Dundee (Mr. Foot).

65. Sir M. BARCLAY-HARVEY

asked the Minister of Transport whether, now that he is taking over the responsibility of the main trunk roads, he is prepared to construct new trunk roads?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

The answer would involve too general a prediction as to what may or may not be done in future.

Sir M. BARCLAY-HARVEY

As there are roads which would be of public utility but which for financial reasons the county councils are not able to construct, will my right hon. Friend consider undertaking the making of such roads?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Every case will be considered on its merits.
