HC Deb 22 May 1935 vol 302 c350
Sir ROBERT HAMILTON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that, since the arrangements were originally made whereby a Member may obtain railway and steamer tickets to his constituency on presentation of a voucher, certain airline services have been and are about to be established; and whether he will consider making the voucher system applicable to travel by air where air-lines are available?

Mr. COOPER

I am aware of the recent developments in air services to which the hon. Member refers, and I have recently arranged for the departments concerned to consider whether it is practicable to extend the present voucher system, without undue inconvenience or additional expense to the Exchequer, so as to enable hon. Members to utilise such services, where available, for travelling to and from their constituencies.

Mr. SIMMONDS

Can my hon. Friend say when he hopes to be able to announce a decision on this matter?
