HC Deb 12 March 1935 vol 299 c197
30. Mr. T. COOK

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has any statement to make in regard to the recent fall in the price of English eggs?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Elliot)

There is usually at this season a fall in egg prices, and the fall since the beginning of this year corresponds closely to the fall in the same period of 1934. I am, however, keeping the position under close observation.

Mr. WEST

Will the Minister consider the desirability of publishing a list of the British importers of these foreign eggs?

Mr. BUCHANAN

Does the reference in the Minister's answer to keeping the position under observation mean that he will interfere with the supply of cheap fresh eggs for the poorer people of this country?

Mr. ELLIOT

I have no hesitation in doing my—

Mr. SPEAKER

Order. That supplementary question had nothing to do with the question on the Paper.
