HC Deb 11 July 1935 vol 304 cc472-3
56. Sir GIFFORD FOX (for Lieut.-Colonel Sir ARNOLD WILSON)

asked the Minister of Transport how many miles of road, in how many different places, un-provided with a system of street lighting, have been deemed to be in a built-up area under Section 1, Sub-section (4), of the Road Traffic Act, 1934, since the date that Section of the Act became operative; and how many miles of road have been de-restricted in how many different places?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

As the lengths of road which have been restricted or de-restricted by orders made by local authorities under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act, 1934, are frequently specified only by reference to their termini, and particulars of the exact mileages are not given, my hon. and gallant Friend will appreciate that I am not in a position to give him the information for which he asks.
