§ Considered in Committee.
§ [Sir DENNIS HERBERT in the Chair.]
§
Motion made, and Question proposed,
That an humble Address be presented to His Majesty, praying that His Majesty will give directions that a monument be erected at the public charge to the memory of the late Admiral of the Fleet Earl Jellicoe as an expression of the admiration of this House for his illustrious naval career and its gratitude for his devoted services to the State, and to assure His Majesty that this House will make good the expenses attending the same."—[Captain, Margesson.]
§ Mr. TINKERMay I ask what form the Memorial is to take? Have the Government any proposition to make to the House, where the Memorial is to be placed, or what it is to cost, or anything of that kind?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Captain Margesson)All those details will, obviously, have to be settled after the Resolution has been confirmed by this House. Until that is done, no information can possibly be given, because there is no authority to make any plans.
§ Mr. TINKERI assumed that as the Committee stage of the Resolution is being taken, we could discuss details.
§ Captain MARGESSONThe Resolution is only the authority for the Monument. The Prime Minister said in moving the Resolution yesterday that the approximate cost would be in the neighbourhood of £6,000, but until this Resolution has been passed and the House has given approval to the plan of expenditure, no detailed plans can actually be laid.
§ Question put, and agreed to nemine contradicente.
§

That an humble Address be presented to His Majesty, praying that His Majesty will give directions that a monument be erected at the public charge to the memory of the late Admiral of the Fleet Earl Jellicoe, as an expression of the admiration of this House for his illustrious naval career and its gratitude for his devoted services to
