HC Deb 08 November 1934 vol 293 c1274
59. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether it is intended to pay salaries or expenses to the members of the proposed Legislative Council in Palestine?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)

I am not in a. position to make any statement on the subject at present.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Does that mean that the right hon. Gentleman has not yet considered the question or that they have not yet been able to find a Jew willing to accept 30 pieces of silver?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

It means exactly what it says.
