HC Deb 14 June 1934 vol 290 c1903
79. Mr. V. ADAMS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs why Germany was included in the list of arms-exporting countries specified by His Majesty's Government in connection with the Gran Chaco dispute, as Germany is forbidden to export arms under Article 170 of the Treaty of Versailles?

Mr. EDEN

The language of Article 170 of the Treaty of Versailles is in more general terms than the proposed arms embargo, and it was on these grounds that the inclusion of Germany was felt to be justified.
