HC Deb 14 February 1934 vol 285 c1906
6. Mr. PERKINS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can give any information as to the number of casualties in the war between Paraguay and Bolivia; and whether hostilities have yet ceased?

Mr. EDEN

I regret that no accurate estimate of the number of casualties is available. The armistice, which came into force on the 18th December, after being extended from the 30th December, finally expired at midnight on 8th-9th January. No report of serious fighting has, however, been received since the expiration of the armistice. The League of Nations Commission has remained on the spot and negotiations are continuing.
