HC Deb 11 December 1933 vol 284 cc4-5
6. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he can give any information as to the formation of a new democratic Swaraj party in India; and whether he can state the aims and objects of this party?

Sir S. HOARE

I understand that the Democratic Swaraj party was formed in Bombay in October with the aim of attaining Purna Swaraj by all peaceful and legitimate means. Its members intend to contest elections and accept office.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Will this new body be permitted to function?

Sir S. HOARE

I do not see any reason why it should not.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Will it be permitted to give evidence against the White Paper?

Sir S. HOARE

All such questions should be addressed to the chairman of the committee.
