HC Deb 30 May 1932 vol 266 cc836-7
67. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportion of European reconstruction loans issued since the War has been provided by Great Britain, France, the United States of America, and other countries?

Major ELLIOT

I am circulating in the OFFICIAL REPORT the figures asked for as regards post-war reconstruction loans issued under the auspices of the League of Nations.

Following are the figures:

this country, he will promote such legislation as may be necessary to enable the Government, as a measure of exception, to levy a duty on meat and agricultural produce imported from the Irish Free State, as being the best means of collecting the money due by that country to Great Britain?

The SECRETARY of STATE for DOMINION AFFAIRS (Mr. J. H. Thomas)

I have been asked to reply. I do not think that it would be desirable for me to make any statement as to the policy which His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom would adopt in the event of the non-payment of the Irish Land Annuities unless and until such a situation has actually arisen.
