HC Deb 10 May 1932 vol 265 cc1709-10
63. Major CARVER

asked the Minister of Agriculture if any steps have now been taken and, if so, of what nature to arrive at a scheme for the grading and marketing of beef which will meet with the views both of the meat traders and of the farmers?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Sir John Gilmour)

I have received from the National Farmers' Union a draft scheme for the better organisation of the marketing of fatstock and dead meat in England and Wales, which is receiving my consideration, as is also the report on the National Mark scheme for the grading and marking of beef recently presented by an Inter-Departmental Committee and published (Cmd. 4047).

Brigadier-General CLIFTON BROWN

Will the right hon. Gentleman also consider the resolution passed by the Agricultural Council of England on this subject last Friday?

Sir J. GILMOUR

Certainly.
