HC Deb 05 May 1932 vol 265 c1289
Mr. LANSBURY

(by Private Notice) asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has received any further information as to the position at Shanghai?

Sir J. SIMON

I am glad to be able to inform the House that the agreement between the Chinese and Japanese Governments in reference to Shanghai, to which I referred in my statement yesterday, was signed at noon to-day. I am not yet in possession of the exact text, but I will lay it before the House at the earliest possible moment. I am sure that the House will share my satisfaction that the two parties have come to this agreement, which the untiring efforts of Sir Miles Lampson, in conjunction with the French, Italian and United States representatives, have greatly contributed to bring about.
