asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that the decision of the Government to appoint a committee to inquire into the sugar-beet industry was announced eight weeks ago, it is intended to set up this committee at the earliest possible moment?

No, Sir. This committee, as was announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, is intended specifically to advise the Government what action should be taken when the present Subsidy Act expires.
