HC Deb 16 February 1932 vol 261 c1453
51. Major NATHAN

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what Revenue is anticipated under the provisions of the Import Duties Bill, during the fiscal year 1932–33, in respect of each of the 43 categories of imports particularised in the monthly trade and navigation accounts?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Major Elliot)

I regret that it is not possible at the present stage to give any estimate as suggested.

Major NATHAN

Is it to be understood that the figure of £30,000,000, given by the President of the Board of Trade the other day, was like so many other figures in these discussions, a mere guess?
