HC Deb 28 April 1932 vol 265 cc575-6
64. Captain ERSKINE-BOLST

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can now state when the invitations to the Lausanne Conference on 16th June will be issued; who will issue them; and to which countries the invitations will be addressed?

Mr. EDEN

As my right hon. Friend informed my hon. Friend, the Member for East Dorset (Mr. Hall-Caine) on 17th February last, the question of invitations to attend the Conference at Lausanne is one for the joint consideration of the six inviting Powers responsible for the communiqué relating to the holding of the Conference which was published in the Press on 13th February last. His Majesty's Government are now in corre- spondence with the five other Governments concerned, but I can as yet make no public statement.

Captain ARTHUR HOPE

Is there any truth in the rumours that this Conference may be adjourned until the autumn?

Mr. EDEN

No, Sir.
