HC Deb 21 May 1931 vol 252 cc2209-12
Dr. HUNTER

May I ask the Prime Minister if he can now state what business will be taken in Committee of Supply on Wednesday, the 3rd June?

The PRIME MINISTER

The business will be the Scottish Estimates—the Vote for the Board of Agriculture for Scotland.

Sir K. WOOD

Is it not time that the Liberal Opposition withdrew their demand for these Supply days?

Mr. STANLEY BALDWIN

I presume that the form of the Prime Minister's Motion as it stands on the Blue Paper is the one that will be put to the House. There is a discrepancy between the Blue Paper and the White Paper, and it is quite obvious that the form on the White

Paper is not the one that the Prime Minister will desire to put. I do not think that the right hon. Gentleman means to ask that other business should be taken before Supply. May I ask him what business he proposes to take if this Motion be carried?

The PRIME MINISTER

It is in the order of the Orders of the Day that the variation is, not in the form of the Motion. The Motion will be moved by me immediately as it stands, but the right hon. Gentleman is perfectly right—there has been a mistake in the printing. The third item on the White Paper should be the first Order, and then the first item will become the second Order and the second item the third Order. We propose to make these corrections.

Motion made, and Question put, That other Government Business have precedence this day of the Business of Supply, and that the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[The Prime Minister.]

The House divided: Ayes, 239; Noes, 110.
