HC Deb 14 May 1931 vol 252 c1361
55. Mr. RAMSBOTHAM

asked the Minister of Health whether, seeing that ill the case of a proposal, under the Local Government Act, 1928, to attach a parish to an urban district a parish council meeting is regarded as the statutory expression of opinion of the parishioners, he is prepared to take steps to secure that there shall be similar means of obtaining the view of the residents of the urban district to which it is proposed to attach such parish?

Mr. GREENWOOD

There are already ample opportunities for representations to be made to the county council and, if desired, to me when the case comes before me, and I do not think any further provision is required.

Sir K. WOOD

Is it possible in such a case for a public inquiry to be held and for representations to be made to the Minister?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I think that that may be so, but the point in the question was the reference of the question to a mass meeting.
