Mr. de ROTHSCHILDasked the Minister of Health whether he has considered the representations from the Wisbech Town Council expressing the opinion that power should be given them to exercise effective control over all premises used for the manufacture and sale of ice cream and kindred commodities; whether he has received similar representations from other localities; and whether he is taking steps to ensure that such articles are manufactured under hygienic conditions?
§ Mr. GREENWOODI have received such representations from the Wisbech Town Council and from a number of other local authorities. As. regards the last part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to Section 72 of the Public Health Act, 1925, which enables the local authority to enforce the maintenance of proper sanitary conditions in places where food is prepared for sale.
