HC Deb 09 December 1931 vol 260 cc1851-2
38. Mr. D. M. ADAMS (for Dr. J. H. WILLIAMS)

asked the Minister of Transport what is the position with regard to the proposed Charing Cross Bridge; and whether it is his intention to retain the present structure of Waterloo Bridge?

Mr. PYBUS

As regards the first part of the question, the late Government decided not to renew their offer of a grant. As regards the second part of the question, I am not in a position to make any statement.

Mr. HARRIS

Does the Minister realise that the temporary character of the repairs to Waterloo Bridge will make it necessary for some decision to be arrived at fairly soon between his Department and the county council?

Mr. PYBUS

I have all these considerations in mind.
