HC Deb 28 May 1930 vol 239 cc1280-1
28. Mr. COCKS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is now in a position to make a statement regarding the publication of the McMahon-Hussein correspondence?

Dr. SHIELS

No, Sir. I am not yet in a position to make any statement.

Mr. COCKS

When will it be convenient to my hon. Friend for me to repeat this question—this day week, or this day fortnight?

Dr. SHIELS

I am afraid I could not give a definite date. I would remind my hon. Friend that it is only a fortnight since this matter was raised, which is not very long for a Government Department to take to deal with such a matter; and, in this case, the position is rather complicated because other Government Departments have to be consulted, so my hon. Friend will understand my feeling unable to give a date.
