HC Deb 27 March 1930 vol 237 cc578-9
64. Mr. CHARLES WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Health if imports of oleo oil and oleo stearine used in margarine must be accompanied by a certificate that the fat was derived from animals free from disease?

Mr. GREENWOOD

It is not the practice at English ports to require such a certificate.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Why is it that this is necessary in Scotland and is not necessary in England?

Mr. GREENWOOD

It is quite true that there is a difference in administration, and this is now under consideration between my Department and the Scottish Office.

Mr. WILLIAMS

When will the right hon. Gentleman do something?

Mr. GREENWOOD

When we have finished the consideration which is now taking place.

Mr. REMER

Is it not the case that in an answer given to a question by the Secretary of State for Scotland two or three days ago he said that he was making representations to the right hon. Gentleman.

Mr. GREENWOOD

That is exactly what I have already said.
