HC Deb 02 July 1928 vol 219 c948
8. Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India what action has been taken with regard to the magistrate censured by the Chief Justice of Lahore in his judgment delivered on 18th November, 1927?

Earl WINTERTON

No, Sir. As soon as I am in a position to do so, I will inform the hon. Member, so that he may put down a question.

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

In view of the very long delay and very grave dissatisfaction that is felt locally on the matter, will the Noble Lord expedite the decision of this very important question?

Earl WINTERTON

On 11th June, I informed the hon. Member that it was difficult to give even an approximate date upon which a decision would be reached. I can assure him that no avoidable delay has taken place. It is a very complicated question which has to be considered by a number of different authorities.
