HC Deb 03 December 1928 vol 223 cc817-8
6. Mr. SAKLATVALA

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India why the Government of India have at present closed the road through the Khyber Pass to all traffic from Afghanistan; if so, whether this step has keen taken in Consultation with or at the request of the Government of Afghanistan; and whether it is in consequence of the Shinwari rising?

Earl WINTERTON

Communications in Afghanistan between Jalalabad and Dakka are reported to have been interrupted as the result of the Shinwari disturbances, but my Noble Friend is not aware that the Government of India have closed the Khyber Pass to traffic coming from Afghanistan.
