§ 14. Mr. AMMONasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he has received a resolution from the postal union of Madras protesting against the fact that the minimum rate of pay fixed by the postal inquiry committee in 1921 has been reduced by five rupees per month; and whether, seeing that in view of the present cost of living in Madras the pay of these Government servants is now below the poverty line, he will inquire into the matter?
§ Earl WINTERTONNo, Sir. The question is entirely one for the Government of India with whose discretion in this matter my Noble Friend is not prepared to interfere.
