HC Deb 09 November 1926 vol 199 c878
63. Mr. DUCKWORTH

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India, if he can make any statement on the recent proposal put forward by the Bombay millowners to increase the Indian cotton duties; and whether he has received any representations from Lancashire on the subject?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Earl Winterton)

The, question is at present under reference to the Indian Tariff Board. The statement submitted to the Board by the Millowners' Association has been reported in the Press. Until the Tariff Board has reported, my Noble Friend cannot make any statement on the subject. The answer to the last part of the question is in the affirmative.
