HC Deb 03 August 1925 vol 187 c940
5. Mr. BENNETT

asked the Undersecretary of State for India how many officers of certain Indian Civil Services have availed themselves of the permission to retire prematurely on proportionate pensions under the Regulations issued in 1921; and whether he can indicate the amount of non-effective charges involved in the retirement of these particular officers?

Earl WINTERTON

The number of civil officers of all services who have retired on premature pensions up to 31st July, 1925, is 353. The non-effective charges involved are not distinguished in the accounts from those in respect of officers retiring in the ordinary course. The information, therefore, required by my hon. Friend could only be obtained by an examination of the individual cases, and in view of the expenditure of time and labour which this would involve. I trust he will not press for it.
