§ Earl WINTERTONI will send my hon. Friend a copy of the full statement circulated in the OFFICIAL REPORT of 1003 30th June last, which showed an annual extra expenditure of 45 lakhs of Rupees. I have no doubt that this increase has been, and is being, reduced in consequence of retrenchment. As, however, the preparation of this Return is a lengthy and costly process, I do not propose, unless my hon. Friend presses for it, to ask for a revised statement at this stage.
§ Sir W. DAVISONDoes my Noble Friend think, from the information at his disposal, that the people of India are happier or more contented by reason of this large additional expenditure?
Mr. HOPE SIMPSONDoes this refer only to the Government of India, or also to the Provincial Governments?
