HC Deb 09 April 1923 vol 162 c850
1. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will make inquiries as to the present condition as to health and sanity of Amir Chand, of Peshawar, undergoing three years' imprisonment?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Earl Winterton)

I am not aware of any reason for anxiety about the welfare of this prisoner, and I am unwilling to put the public to the expense of a telegram of inquiry concerning any particular prisoner, unless the hon. and gallant Member has any information which leads him to suppose that Amir Chand's health and sanity are in jeopardy, in which case my Noble Friend will look into the matter.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Perhaps the Noble Lord will write?

Earl WINTERTON

I will do so.
