HC Deb 22 March 1920 vol 127 c39
61. Sir RICHARD COOPER

asked the Prime Minister what is the salary of the Deputy Minister of Munitions and when does he propose to appoint a new Minister?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer to the first part of the question is £1,600, and to the second, that the post is not vacant.

Sir R. COOPER

If the office is not vacant, on what ground is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry made Deputy-Minister, and why in that Department only?

Brigadier-General CROFT

Is it not in the present as well as in the permanent interests of the country that the Ministry of Munitions should be abolished and the work put under the Board of Trade or some other Department, and thus get rid of a growing scandal?

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Member should give notice of that question.
