HC Deb 15 July 1920 vol 131 cc2578-9
31. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to the statements that coloured troops have been employed by the Poles along the Phoskoroff Zherinka railway on the Russian-Polish front; and whether he is in a position to state that no black soldiers have been sent to the assistance of Poland?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I can add nothing to the reply given to the hon. and gallant Member on Monday last by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

Yes, but Mr. Speaker, is the right hon. Gentleman aware that that reply was that his attention had not been called to the statement: is he aware that I have sent him copies of newspapers in which the statement appeared, and can we have some information on this rather important matter?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I was not aware of the source of the information, but my hon. Friend tells me it was a wireless message. On the face of it it seems absurd.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Have inquiries been made at all into this?

Mr. BONAR LAW

We are not going to make inquiries into every rumour.
