HC Deb 07 June 1917 vol 94 cc313-4
Mr. P. A. HARRIS

(by Private Notice) asked if the President of the Board of Trade could state what arrangements he-has made for the release of cheese for sale to the public?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Roberts)

The Board of Trade have now completed arrangements for making cheese available to the public at 1s. 4d. per lb. retail, and issues of such cheese will begin at the end of next week. It will take a week or ten days to get the distribution organised throughout the Kingdom. It must, of course, be understood that although the quantity of cheese released will be very considerable, it will still be limited by the necessary provision for Army requirements.
