HC Deb 18 June 1913 vol 54 cc359-60
6. Mr. OUTHWAITE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he can give an assurance that the method of allocating Admiralty contracts for oil fuel and similar requirements provides adequate security against possibility of favouritism?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The answer is in the affirmative with all Admiralty contracts. The Admiralty seek the widest competition possible in the particular circumstances of each case, and are guided by and admit no other considerations than the meeting of naval requirements, present and prospective, on the most advantageous terms, financially and in every other respect.
