HC Deb 15 February 1911 vol 21 c1046
Mr. WEDGWOOD

asked the Prime Minister whether the Committee to be appointed to consider legislation in connection with local taxation will consist of Members of all parties in this House?

The PRIME MINISTER

I cannot as yet make any definite statement as to the composition of the Committee.

Mr. WEDGWOOD

May I ask whether this Committee will advise legislation, or whether it will report like an ordinary Committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

I cannot answer that question at present.

Viscount HELMSLEY

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether, in appointing the Committee, he will bear in mind that agriculture should be well represented?

Mr. LAWSON

May I ask whether it is to be a Departmental Committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

I would rather not say at the moment. I may be able to say next week.
