HC Deb 23 February 1910 vol 14 c203
Mr. WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary for Foreign Affairs whether he will lay Papers as to the terms of the extension of the Suez Canal Company's concession, showing how the income of this country from that source may be affected?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

No decision has at present been reached with regard to the proposals for the extension of the Suez Canal Company's concession, which have only just been submitted to the Egyptian National Assembly for their consideration. His Majesty's Government are not, therefore, yet in a position to lay papers on the subject.

Mr. BOWLES

May I ask whether when the matter comes before the Government they will bear in mind the gravity of the enormous dues paid by British vessels passing through the Suez Canal?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

That matter is receiving the consideration of the Government.
