HC Deb 17 December 1908 vol 198 c2087
MR. PATRICK WHITE

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland what steps the Estates Commissioners propose to take to supply Owen Kirk, an evicted tenant on the estate of Admiral Singleton, County Meath, with an equivalent farm to that from which he was evicted; and what objection there is to acquire compulsorily the farm from which he was evicted and reinstate him.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners hope to be able to supply Kirk with a holding at an early date. As regards the concluding portion of the Question, it would be contrary to the established practice to state the reasons which actuate the Commissioners in the exercise of discretion vested in them under Evicted Tenants Act.
