I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether the leave regulations of the Transvaal Civil Service have been so altered as to deprive British members of the service of an accumulated leave enabling them occasionally to visit Great Britain, and which they were led to expect would be periodically granted to them; and whether, in granting self-government to the Transvaal, any attempt was made to safeguard the the interests of the existing members of the service.

The Secretary of State has not heard of such an alteration; but in any case the subject falls within the proper authority of the Transvaal Government. With regard to the last part of the Question, I may refer the hon. Member to the Answer I give to his similar Question on the 23rd instant, †
