HC Deb 09 July 1907 vol 177 c1433
SIR GILBERT PARKER

I beg to ask the Undersecretary of State for the Colonies whether the revaluation of the farms held by settlers in the Orange River Colony will take place before the new Government assumes administration.

MR. CHURCHILL

No general revaluation is contemplated, but legislation in the Colony is proposed which will render easier the position of any settlers who find temporary difficulty in making their payments to the Government.

SIR GILBERT PARKER

Have the Government received any complaints with regard to the valuation, and, if so, do they intend to take any action?

MR. CHURCHILL

Any such complaints would, of course, go to the local Government. I am not aware of any number having been received. I understand the valuation has been found to be acceptable on the whole.
