SCOTT (Ashton-under-Lyne)I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can state the total number of Chinese coolies who were repatriated in the steamship "Heliopolis" on 2nd July, and how many of them were repatriated under Section 7 of Ordinance 27 of 1905 as being a 157 danger to the exercise of proper control on any mine.
§ MR. CHURCHILLThe total number repatriated on the "Heliopolis" is understood to have been 1,948 and of these 413 or 414 were repatriated under Section 7 of Ordinance 27 of 1905.
