HC Deb 05 December 1906 vol 166 cc929-30
MR. WEDGWOOD (Newcastle-under-Lyme)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether separate children's Courts are now held in any places besides Bath, Brimingham, Bolton, Bradford, Bury, Canterbury, Halifax, Hull, Lincoln, Manchester and Walsall; if so, in what new places are these Courts held; at which of these Courts probation officers are employed, stating whether they are paid or unpaid; and at which Courts policemen are partly or wholly employed as probation officers.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Gladstone.) My hon. friend has omitted Tottenham from the list of places which have separate Courts for children. I am afraid cannot, at the present time, add anything further to the reply which I gave my hon. friend last Wednesday on this subject †, or to the very full statement which I made on the 30th May last in answer to a Question by my hon. friend the Member for Berwickshire. ‡ Nothing would be gained by collecting the information afresh after so brief an interval.
