HC Deb 06 June 1904 vol 135 cc793-4
MR. LAMBERT

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he can give an approximate date when the force now at Gyangtse will be ready to commence its advance to Lhasa; and whether there is any evidence that the refusal of the Tibetans to negotiate is due to Russian influence.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Mr. BRODRICK,) Surrey, Guildford

Until the actual date has been fixed, it would not be in the public interest to make any statement as to the day on which the force will advance. As regards the second part of the Question, I must refer the hon. Member to the information contained in the Blue-book.
