HC Deb 11 May 1891 vol 353 c489
MR. BRYCE (Aberdeen, S.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any person, and, if so, who, has yet been appointed Her Majesty's Consul at Erzeroum to replace the late Mr. Clifford Lloyd; and whether there is any truth in the report that the Foreign Office contemplate changes in the present arrangement of Consulates and Vice Consulates in Asiatic Turkey; and, if so, whether he can state the nature of such changes?

BARON H. DE WORMS (for Sir J. FERGUSSON)

No appointment has yet been made to the vacant Consulate at Erzeroum. Certain changes have been suggested by the Ambassador at Constantinople, but no decision has been arrived at. It would not at present be expedient to make a statement on the subject.
