MAHONYI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will grant a Return showing for the Counties of Galway, Mayo, and Donegal the number and extent of holdings over £50 valuation let to be used or used mainly for the purpose of grazing, distinguishing those on which the tenant does not reside, and 39 also of tracts of land, not being demesne land, in the owner's hands used mainly for the purpose of grazing?
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURI am unable to give the whole of the Return asked for; but I believe some of the particulars indicated could be given. In 1889 I had a rough estimate prepared relating to the subject. It would not be practicable to give the extent of the holdings, nor to distinguish as to demesne lands. Subject to these two modifications, I would answer a question at a later date.
